How do I get here from Foz do Iguaçu over the Friendship Bridge?

Cross the Friendship Bridge (Puente de la Amistad) and register your entry at the immigration checkpoint on the Paraguayan side. Registration is mandatory and free, and the Immigration Pre-Registration with a QR code speeds up the queue. Bring a valid identity document or passport. 1. Before you leave: complete the Immigration Pre-Registration (Pre Registro Migratorio) on the DNM website. It generates a single-use QR code for each entry or exit and is enabled at the Friendship Bridge.
2. Document: a valid identity document or passport. For Brazilians, the DNM's official list mentions the RG and the passport.
3. At the bridge: register your entry at the immigration post. The Pre-Registration does not replace registration; it only makes it faster.
4. Keep the proof: if you plan to apply for residency, your proof of entry is one of the required documents.
5. On your way back: if you also use the Pre-Registration to leave, generate a new QR code, because each code is valid for a single crossing.

Important: without an entry record, the DNM (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, Paraguay's immigration authority) applies a fine.

What is the DTVF and who needs it to cross the Integration Bridge?

Since 14/09/2026, the DTVF (Documento de Tránsito Vecinal Fronterizo, a border neighbour transit document) is mandatory for local border traffic over the Integration Bridge. It is for residents of the linked towns, carries an official DNM fee, lasts 5 years and is renewable. Residents of Foz apply for it at the Ciudad del Este immigration office, and issuance takes up to three business days.

• Linked towns: Foz do Iguaçu, with Ciudad del Este, Presidente Franco and Hernandarias.
• Paraguayan citizens: those who live in the linked towns and want to cross into Brazil over the Integration Bridge apply for the DTVF at Brazil's Federal Police in Foz do Iguaçu (according to the DNM).
• When the bridge opened: according to the local press (H2FOZ, 14 and 15/09/2026), private vehicles could cross from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a DTVF for every occupant; pedestrians and motorcycles were not yet allowed. Check the current rules before you travel.

Identificaciones, the National Police department that issues the cédula (the Paraguayan identity card), is on the Súper Carretera, Área 1, and is open 07:00 to 15:00 (phone 061-573916).

The next MigraMóvil (the DNM's mobile immigration service) in Ciudad del Este is scheduled for 2 to 6 November 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are 250 appointments per day, handed out on the same day from 7:30 a.m.; they are personal and non-transferable. The DNM lists the Centro Cultural Mangoré as the venue; confirm it the day before on the DNM website.
